Committees
The Office of Diversity and Equity encourages New Hanover County residents to get involved with local boards and committees that drive policy, positive change, and act as an advocate for the community. The county is best served when there is a broad representation of citizens who participate in the decision-making process to improve services for our residents. The Office of Diversity and Equity is involved with these boards and committees.

Commission for Women
The Commission shall be organized for the purpose of acting as an advocate for women and a resource of information on the status of women in New Hanover County for the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners and Wilmington City Council.

Commission on African-American History, Heritage and Culture
This commission was organized for the purpose of researching, investigating, discovering, preserving, collecting, cataloging, and celebrating African American culture.

Community Relations Advisory Committee
The Community Relations Advisory Committee (C-RAC) addresses community issues involving prejudice or discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, creed or religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.

New Hanover County Hispanic-Latino Commission
The commission is established to advise the Board on matters related to the Hispanic/Latino community and to serve as a liaison between the community and New Hanover County (County). The commission will work to promote understanding, inclusiveness, and equality for the Hispanic/Latino community in the County. The Commission shall be organized for the purpose of acting as an advocate for the Hispanic/Latino Community and a resource of information on the status of Hispanics/Latinos in the County.
