[ARCHIVED] Food experience set for Sip, Savor and Shop event to launch Art in the Arboretum

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – Local chefs and artists Anne McCombie and Renato Abbate will be providing the culinary experience for the upcoming Sip, Savor and Shop party that officially opens the 28th annual Art in the Arboretum Festival later this fall.

This kickoff event will be on Friday, October 13 from 5-8 p.m. and is for Friends of the Arboretum members and invited guests. To learn more about membership in Friends of the Arboretum, click here.

The Sip, Savor and Shop experience allows Friends of the Arboretum a sneak peak at the nearly 80 booths that are expected throughout the seven-acre site, highlighting the work of local artists in the community.

The Art in the Arboretum fundraiser will be open to the public over the October 14-15 weekend. In addition to an array of artisan creations, local food trucks 2 Bros Coastal Cuisine (Saturday) and Angels Tacos (Sunday) will be on-site serving up delicious bites.

Money raised from the event will go to the Friends of the Arboretum in support of the Arboretum gardens, Cooperative Extension programs and to the Wilmington Art Association. Admission is only $5 per person (free for children 12 and under, military with ID and Friends of the Arboretum) throughout the weekend.

Carolina State University and that university’s Cooperative Extension outreach, Arboretum staffers offer a multitude of services, including soil testing and plant disease and pest triage.
