Information on Connected to Education, Employment & Entrepreneurship Program now available

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The latest piece of the New Hanover County Commissioners’ Community Building Plan is ready to help adults and families get the support they need to meet career goals and create solid financial footing for the future.

Overseen by Port City United, the Connected to Education, Employment & Entrepreneurship Program (CTE³) will work with adults to help them register for and complete trades and training programs, while also providing support that will eliminate barriers to completing these programs, such as childcare, tuition and other assistance.

“It’s easy to want a better career or want to create a better life for your family, but it can be difficult to connect with training opportunities and find ways to manage pre-existing priorities,” said Port City United Director Rashad Gattison. “The CTE³ Program is intended to help individuals overcome those roadblocks by connecting them with resources that can allow them to focus on meeting their educational goals.”

Participants in the program will be adults, including the parents of students living near Impact Zone-identified schools in the county. The seven Impact Zone schools have previously been identified as International School at Gregory, Snipes Academy of Art and Design, Forest Hills Global Elementary, Rachel Freeman School of Engineering, D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy, Williston Middle School and New Hanover High School.

Individualized case management from the beginning of the process through the completion of the desired training program will be provided. PCU Connect Specialists will be able to help participants find scholarships and financial aid if needed, figure out which program is right for them and connect them with other resources to help complete the academic training process.

Individuals who are interested in learning more about the CTE³ Program should call the PCU Connect Center at 910-798-4444.

CTE³ is one piece of the Community Building Plan established by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners. This plan makes targeted investments to support community initiatives with a goal of connecting individuals and families to the resources they need to be successful and thrive.
