The first October meeting of the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners was focused on rezoning. A brief rundown of the activity is available below.
Hearings to discuss rezoning
Two public hearings were held to discuss rezoning requests submitted by applicants looking to build in New Hanover County.
The first request was to rezone approximately 1.34 acres at 4580 S. College Road from R-15 (Residential) to CB (Community Business), which would allow for an automotive service station to be located on the site. The request was unanimously approved.
The second request was to rezone approximately 12.68 acres at 5322 Carolina Beach Road from B-2 (Regional Business) and R-15 (Residential) to RMF-M (Residential Multi-Family – Moderate Density). This rezoning would allow for the construction of a 200-unit, multi-family and townhouse development. The request was also approved by a 4-1 vote.
That’s not all …
The final agenda item was a quasi-judicial hearing for a special use permit, which was unanimously approved, allowing for three parcels of land at 8102, 8104 and 8106 Sidbury Road to be used as a campground and RV park.
