UPDATE: As of February 10, the stormwater pipe repair has been completed. Stoneybrook Road is now reopened for traffic.
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC - Beginning February 7, 2022, the intersection of Stoneybrook Road and Bedrock Court near Middlesound Loop Road in Ogden will be closed for approximately two weeks as crews from New Hanover County Stormwater Services replace a drainage pipe that runs underneath the road. Residents needing to use this road will be detoured to Middlesound Loop Road and Anchors Bend Way until the project is complete.
"Recently, the Stormwater Services staff has been working to replace underground drainage pipes in this area of the county as they have started to fail, which has created sinkholes and prevented proper drainage," said Chief Project Engineer for Stormwater Services Timothy Lowe. "We've reached the point in this project where a section of failed pipe that needs to be replaced is underneath the road. While it's an unfortunate inconvenience for a few days to residents who might utilize this intersection, it's an important improvement that must be made to prevent further issues from occurring."
