New Hanover County, NC – From Memorial Day through Labor Day, New Hanover County’s Cape Fear Museum of History and Science will offer free admission to military personnel and their families, and will extend museum hours each Thursday to be open until 7 p.m.
As a Blue Star Museum, active duty military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve, and their families will be able to visit Cape Fear Museum for free this summer. The program is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums nationwide. In addition, from Memorial Day through Labor Day, the museum will be open on Mondays and will have extended hours each Thursday until 7 p.m. During the extended hours, admission costs will remain the same.
“We are proud to be a Blue Star Museum and provide our military personnel with a free opportunity to get to know the community through Cape Fear Museum,” said Museum Director Sheryl Mays. “And, by opening our doors for a couple of extra hours each week, we hope everyone in our community will also come visit us, enjoy some family time in our PlayTime! exhibit, and learn about the region’s history through the incredible artifacts on display.”
