Cape Fear Museum is inviting the community to a Family Day event to have fun and learn more about fire safety during the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week! This event is made possible by a generous grant from International Paper. Some of the educational stations and activities at this FREE EVENT include:

  • Use a life-size magnetic board to design a home escape plan
  • Make your own fireboat and race in a regatta
  • Watch a fire ball demonstration
  • Participate in a water gun target shooting challenge to put out a simulated fire
  • Create paper fire using a marbling technique
  • Get an up-close look at a City of Wilmington firetruck (on-site from 11 am to 12 pm)
  • Try out firefighter gear from New Hanover County Fire & Rescue
  • Make s’mores in the park and eat them
  • Have fun with firefighter props at the selfie station
  • And more!

Taqueria La Villita and Kona Ice food trucks will be on-site for food purchases during the event.

While visiting, experience our newest in-house curated exhibition, FIRE! that explores the history and science of fire and firefighting in the Cape Fear region.
