NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. – Cape Fear Museum of History and Science invites the public to Fossil Fair 2019 taking place Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Organized by the North Carolina Fossil Club (NCFC), the fair is an annual gathering of fossil enthusiasts who share a passion and knowledge of paleontology with the public. At the event, NCFC members exhibit fossils from personal collections found in North Carolina and beyond. Fossil Fair is included with museum admission.

This annual gathering is a unique opportunity to discover, explore and learn more about fossils and geologic history. While visiting, view Cape Fear Museum’s newest exhibit, Dinosaur Discovery that explores the world of modern paleontology and the discoveries that reveal how dinosaurs lived, moved and behaved. Interactive activities in the exhibit include a scavenger hunt, dinosaur puzzles, books and toys, paleontologist dress up area and more. The exhibit was developed by the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, college students and military, $5 for youth ages 6 to 17 and free for children under 5 years old. The North Carolina Fossil Club (NCFC) is a non-profit corporation founded in 1977 and is based in Raleigh, N.C. The NCFC was formed to engage in and support the study, enjoyment and collection of fossils.
Cape Fear Museum of History and Science, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is located at 814 Market Street and is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. Standard admission prices are $8 for adults; $7 for seniors, students and military with valid ID; $5 for children 6-17; and free for children 5 and under and for museum members.
