NAME A DINOSAUR
Paleontologists name dinosaurs in many different ways. Sometimes dinosaur names come from the dinosaur’s physical characteristics. Sometimes paleontologists imagine how a dinosaur looked or acted and name the dinosaur based on that particular feature. For example, the word dinosaur comes from Greek words that mean “terrible lizard”.

Imagine you discovered a new type of dinosaur. What would you name it? To decide what to name your dinosaur, think about what it looks like. Does your dinosaur have any special features?

Find prefixes, suffixes, and other root words on the “My Dinosaur” activity sheet that help you describe your dinosaur. Draw and color your dinosaur based on the name you created.
