Join us for hands-on, interactive science activities while celebrating spring break.
Wednesday, April 8 from 10 AM to 12 PM: Ready, Set, GROW!
Explore the world of plants from seed to sprout. Dissect a flower, learn the parts of a plant and discover how seeds travel. Make your own seed container to take home and plant in your garden. Examine a local plant superstar, Venus’ flytrap, to see what makes it so special.
Thursday, April 9 from 10 AM to 12 PM: Bees and Birds
Discover why bird poop is white and how honey is made. Do the bee “waggle dance” and see why these hardworking insects are so important. Dissect an owl pellet to find out what they like to eat. Explore a local endangered bird and make a model woodpecker to take home. The Cape Fear Raptor Center and the New Hanover County Beekeepers Association will both be here for Bees and Birds.
Saturday, April 11 from 10 am to 12 PM: Walking on Sunshine!
Explore Earth’s favorite star! Make a sun print, create shadows and find out what makes a rainbow. Examine the importance of sunscreen with a fun bracelet you can take home. Discover how far Earth is from the sun and do the “moon dance” to see how eclipses are created.
