Cape Fear Museum’s annual STAR PARTY has gone VIRTUAL! 

Get ready for an at-home exploration and celebration of this year’s theme, Moon and Mars!

ASTRONOMY TRIVIA
Tuesday, April 13 at 1 PM and
Thursday, April 15 at 6 PM
Test your knowledge with a themed trivia session! Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will host a fun-filled question session and all ages are encouraged to participate. Be sure to check the trivia website for resources and hints about the questions each week!

Join Ms. Jorey on Facebook for an active story reading about Colorful Space. Planets, stars and dust, oh my! What colors in space do you think we’ll spy?

STELLAR STORYTIME
Thursday, April 15 at 4 PM
Join Ms. Jorey on Facebook for a bilingual active story reading of Snakes in Space / Serpientes en Espacio. Follow five snakes as they blast into space for an adventure! / Sigue a cinco serpientes mientras van al espacio para una aventura!

VIRTUAL LITTLE EXPLORERS

Join Ms. Pepper on Facebook for Star Power! What does it take to be a star? See some constellations and hear stories behind them. Do you know any songs about stars?

VIRTUAL SKYWATCHING
Friday, April 16 at 8 PM
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will present a virtual skywatching experience! Participants will explore current astronomy topics, learn about hidden science stories, and observe the night sky using both planetarium software and video feeds from live telescopes! Plus, we’ll be joined by special guest Dr. Sheila Kannappan, who studies the evolution of galaxies and the larger cosmic structures in which they live. Click here to register for the Zoom event.

SOLD OUT – 2021 STAR PARTY ACTIVITY KIT 
Beginning Thursday, April 1, families can visit Cape Fear Museum to pick up a FREE 2021 Star Party Activity Kit filled with fun, hands-on astronomy materials and helpful stargazing tools. Once you receive your kit, enjoy the activities whenever and wherever you want. Kits will be available for pickup at our front desk and are limited to one kit per family.

We are making 100 kits and they are available on a first come, first serve basis. Once they are gone, use the links below to download and print your own activities and stargazing resources. If you don’t have all the materials at home, don’t worry. Get creative and use what’s available to you! Kits are SOLD OUT as of 4/9.
